Buy A Virginia FarmBuying a farm ideally could be as simple as finding a wonderful property, then move your horses and plant your garden.  We both know the world’s not ideal, and there’s a lot more you’ll need to know about how to buy a Virginia farm.  Here’s a series of articles here that will help, so let’s begin by defining what exactly we mean when we talk “farm”.  For our purposes in this series, we’re referring to properties in central Virginia that are at least 10 acres which have the potential for crops and/or animals (as opposed to waterfront acreage etc.)  Here we have many properties with ample acreage, but you’ll find that they might be heavily wooded or nearly vertical… great scenery but perhaps few farm uses other than timber.

Next you need to be aware that different counties in Virginia have different rules and ordinances that affect farms in those counties.  And each farm property’s deed may contain additional rules that govern the use of that particular property.  If you’re getting overwhelmed, please don’t be.  This is where I make your farm search a pleasant and understandable venture.  When you’re ready, I’ll be glad to show you 100% of the currently available properties that match your own Wish List preferences.  I hope that you can use the links below to generate some questions for me to help you.

Our first recommendation always is:  find a good Realtor with experience in handling farm property transactions.  If you’re here,  you’ve already done that.  Farms have been my specialty for many years, and I share your interest in horses, farming, and outdoor preservation.  I’m familiar with most of the farms in our area and I’d love to share my knowledge to help you find your perfect Virginia farm.
